Ace of Base knew what they were talking about.

I've been looking for signs. But today is the day. Its not the first day of a year by any calendar (Gregorian, Hindu, Kannada or financial) its not an auspicious (like Ganesh Chaturthi) or even a significant one (my birthday) or a hyped over one like 11/11/11. I have planned for it to be those days, those times. But those days rolled by, changing nothing. But today, I change. I was waiting for signs, ones; to change. And now that I have decided, I see signs all around me. I saw a license plate that read "Lovlyf". I watched Supersize Me on Hulu. Diane Keaton on "The daily show with Jon Stewart" talking about reading and learning about her mother through her journals. A hundred insignificant things that could be the trigger. A thousand inspirations that could have been relegated to the background.

Stopping by the fridge on a hungry evening

We know and love Robert Frost's Stopping by woods on a lonely evening with its inspirational lines about pausing to smell the roses but not stopping and setting up camp and forgetting all about the original goal.

With apologies to the purists, here's my version :-

Whose thighs these are i think i know
Her heart is in the right place though.
She wont mind me stopping here
To watch the scale numbers grow.

My little pant must think it queer
To no longer fit without a tear.
Between the ice cream and cake
The heaviest gain of the year

It gives the button and zip a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the strain
Of a heavy gut intake.

The foods are lovely and deep fried
But I have a diet to keep
And pounds to go before i unhide.
And pounds to go before i unhide.

Update:
Alternate (new and improved) ending as suggested by Anonymous :-
The foods are lovely, my will is weak
But I have a diet to keep
And pounds to lose before i'm sleek
And pounds to lose before i'm sleek

Kicking up reality TV a notch

I have had the opportunity these last few weeks to spend time with my first obsession - TV. Of course, I wasn't totally disconnected from the TV world - there was Hulu and Netflix but I would just watch sitcoms or dramas that I liked. And if it wasnt available for streaming, I'd simply do something else. I had quite forgotten what it was like to have time on my hands with a remote control in one and nothing particuary interesting to watch. Channel Surfing! Its an official activity. By the time one is skimming through ~100 channels there's something new on Chanel 1 and so it goes.
What I've found is the plethora of reality tv shows. They're everywhere and I think on pretty much everything under the sun from America's Next Top Model to Swamp People.
But the most common ones seem to be the home decoration shows.
Now what I think would really like to see :-
A]
1) Family A submits a request to get their room/house to be done up by Show X.
2) Show X hosts comes and criticizes various aspects of the room.
3) Show X goes to work to renovating it.
4) Praise is showered and the the family oohs and aahs and maybe cries.
5) Famiy A now submits request for their already removated room/house to be done up by Show Y
6) Show Y hosts turn up and start criticizing (?) while Show X hosts watch using a cam.

B] All these awesome home decoration shows tend to inspire well intentioned people to redesign their own rooms. Good intentions do not always translate good results. Who would like to watch "Home projects gone Bad"? Me! Me!
