Be Healthy ... starting tomorrow

I made the promise before I went to bed.
It was time to do; enough had been said.
My rival on the trail:
An energetic snail.
I'm happy to report I came out ahead.

The increasingly poor decisions of me

Hitting "snooze" to start a hectic day
Despite Google Maps, going astray.
A good deed gone awry.
Risking a UTI
to attend a meeting I missed anyway.

Note: I wish the title was original. Instead, it is from the amazing serial: The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret Sometimes you really can judge a book by its cover

summer fun

To their delight, the children found
Water filled in the potholes in the ground
And made oceans for their boats,
the new avatars of last year's notes.
Avast! Adventures and thrills abound!

Would love to but...

"Headache is such a common excuse
It works only on the really obtuse."
"But, its real, the pain!"
You protest in vain.
A good liar doesnt face these issues.

Purists and Pop

Kylie Minogue made a very catchy, meta song.
Alanis did the same and its nothing wrong.
Pop lives up to its name
with fluff, fortune and fame.
If you dont like it, there's otheres; so move along.

Preserving our films; Preserving our past

Movies were made, impacted us and time flew.
Of their original prints, we don't have a clue
We need to find them and preserve,
Give them the future they deserve.
Whether they're black and white or even blue!

Note: Hugo opened my eyes to the importance of preservation of our films. I was delighted to read recently about the efforts in India to preserve Hindi films: https://in.news.yahoo.com/the-extraordinary-network-across-india-that-s-helping-restore-our-film-heritage--one-trashed-reel-at-a-time-052602235.html

Friends

The requirements for being a good friend:
Having a ear, minus the judgement, to lend.
Stand up for and by me
When it is dark or shiny.
Oh, and delete my browsing history at the end.

ps-  Ben E. King who wrote and sang "Stand by Me" died recently. http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-ben-e-king-20150502-story.html What began as a love song became an anthem for friendship after being featured in the movie, "Stand by Me"
