Today is Holi, St Patrick's Day and Navroz too, i think.
Whether you're wearing green or red, yellow and pink.
Another year has gone by,
Think back, look ahead while high
.. On life, that is (nudge nudge) (wink wink)
Going from bad to worse, one verse at a time.

Your anapestic meter is losing its shape in this one, but you had a great run so far. Good job.
Surprised that "looking at retirement like a sheep does a butcher" instead of ".. like Tintin does an adventure." Cant' wait, myself.
Thank you! I learnt something new yesterday: anapestic meter. And honestly, I'm still trying to figure it out. You're right, i did get lazy on this one and I'm happy you called me out on it.
I too look forward to retirement with the assumption that I'd have enough savings to sustain whatever plans i had in mind. But the whole "waiting like a sheep does a butcher" stems from the reality of a lot of people being forced to delay retirement

Good luck to you. I hope we get a comic book series and a Spielberg movie out of your post-retirement escapades.
Sorry, the feedly reader did not render the "< nudge nudge >< wink wink >" part due to the HTML tags (I had to use spaces to render them in this comment). So the last line just read: ".. On life, that is"
Your anapestic meter is doing just fine. :)
My anapestic meter sighs with relief and happy that its existence is acknowledged.
I had noticed it on blogger too and edited the post to using lt; gt;
I tried the space right now but it still doesnt render correctly on feedly. Maybe it's using the older copy?
Also, i thought you were talking about mismatch of syllable count and the flow being not quite there.
